Layouts

Front Cover Photoshoot

For my front cover i did a location photoshoot. This included using a couple of locations in order for me to create the right effect for my magazine. I also made her do an outfit change in order to makesure that the front cover had some variation rather than just everything looking the same. This is because usually in a magazine the image that is used on the front cover typically tends to be what the main feature article on the double page spread is going to be about. So in order to follow the codes and conventions i chose to take a number of different photos in a few different outfits so that when she was used a couple of times in my magazine there was some slight variation in order to break it up and make it look more creative and effective. This is also so that the audience who are going to buy my magazine would not get bored and still be attracted towards it. This is an image of 'Gazza' it has been taken in a location situation rather than a studio. This was done because this way i feel that it gives the photo a more natural look. It doesnt look fake and like they are trying to prove anything to their fans. Overally i took this picture on a night out where you can tell that he is having fun. The iconography in this photo is things like the beer which can been seen in the bottom left hand corner. This shows that he likes to go out and have a good time and this fits in with my genre of my magazine perfectly.

This was the photo that i chose to use on the front cover of my magazine and there were many reasons as to why i chose this one over all the rest. I felt that in this photo she was engaging wih the audience because of the way she is looking straight at the camera i also felt that this photo was clear and well established as to what it was trying to convey. I chose to take it in a location shot rather than a studio one because of the way in which i felt it would make

This first photo shown above was taken in a location setting. This photo has been taken in a subway. I chose to use this setting because i feel that it creates that sort of underground and edgy image to the magazine. This then meant that the clothes she wore for this shoot stood out this was because of the way she looked stylish and the shoot was shot in a dirty and more run down type of setting. This was all to create the effect of glamour in a run down area. I chose not to use this photo on the front cover of my magazine because one it was slightly out of focus and two because she is standing directly in the centre of the photo in wont look right and in proportion when the text is put down the right hand side.
Both of these photos the one above and the one below are photos that i considered to use on my front cover. They are similar photos apart from the fact that in the above photo she is not wearing sunglasses. The sunglasses in the photo below are iconography and show the fact that she is willing to wear sunglasses even when it isnt sunny all because she wants to look individual and stand out from the crowd. I chose not to use either of these photos in the end and this was purely for the reason that i felt they were too plain and werent creating the vibe that i wanted for my magazine. Also the photo that i had chosen to use on my double page spread was one where she was wearing the same outfit as above and below. This was i felt that it was best that i followed the codes and conventions and chose and photo with a different outfit.
